Rhettmatic on KDAY 3/06

All right since I got Rhettmatic on deck right now..we're gonna keep it going.

He's posted these on his blog over on his myspace page but you already know how I get down. I don't care!!!

I'm just here to spread that Beat Junkie Sound..

So here is Rhettmatic on KDAY with Julio G as your host.....
(to bad that they already took KDAY off the air)

I'm only gonna post one of the mixes for now..we'll do part 2 at another date.

Here's what Rhett has to say about this mix...

I just recently found some of my old recorded live mixes when I was still doing radio....these are mixes that I recorded for my aircheck while I was doing my stint at the resurrected KDAY in LA with the homies, OG KDAY Mixmaster & West Coast/LA Radio Legend, Julio G & my fellow Beat Junkie member, Melo-D. This was during the years of 2005-2006. Julio G was on the air in primetime from every Monday to Friday from 6 to 11pm, with Melo handling the mixing duties from Mondays to Wednesdays, & Fridays at 7 o'clock at night while I was handling the Thursday nights at 7pm as well. Of course we had to play all the popular radio hits in our mix at that time, but the good thing though, we get to occasionally play & sprinkle some new dope shit in our mix to try to break in new songs (i.e. J Dilla, Madlib, Self Scientific, etc...) or play some classic Hip Hop songs as long they were sandwiched between radio hits.

And what was even more special, occasionally, Julio would let us get busy on the mix and play a block of Old School Funk & R&B or a block of classic Hip Hop. Sometimes, those sets would be the most fun we all had and also would be fan favorites as well. At times, we would get alot of requests for us to do those type mixes. So anyways, I'm posting up 2 mixes from my timeslot for all you good people to download and to enjoy. These 2 particular mixes, I actually did a Classic late 80's Hip Hop mix set.......also on one the mixes, I finally got an intro for my time slot, which I produced and had fellow Visionary member, LMNO spit a bar. So everyone, get your hightop fade on, put your gold dookey chain rope on, & do the Wop and your Scoop & Scrap Lover on, and enjoy the mixes. Happy Holidays people!

Koushik - Shout Out Mix 2008

The mix I bring you today is from the one they call Koushik.

He made a mix and had nothing to do with it so he asked me if I would be down to put it on the Stoney Jackson blog...
of course I will.

If you don't know about him. He's an artist on stones throw. Has an album out called "Out My Window". Do yourself a favor and pick it up. It's not a "hip hop" album. It's something you have to sit down and just let it play out.

He also has a mix out that you can pick up.

Go to the Stones Throw website to check him out or head over to Turntable Lab for his mixes

Enjoy the man's mix...

Militia Survival Mix 2001

Here's a promo mix for ya'll.

I Haven't seen this one around on the world wide web.

I've found everything else.....man....everything.

But not this one.

I did this mix for a company called Militia Survival. It was a line of bags with a military feel to them. Real dope stuff. It's no longer around. They also did a line of shoes that went on to become Creative Recreation. So as I was saying real dope stuff...

So during every ASR Show or something like that I would hook up a mix for him to give out when people would come by their booth and check out their line of kicks & bags. I never sold any copies in any stores...well maybe Fat Beats Los Angeles.

I also made mixes for the shoe company but we'll get to those at a later date......
and yes I'll get to the Drawls Mixtapes so you (know who) don't have to worry

This is Promo Only.

Never before released.

From the vaults.

If you would like to know what's on the mix...well Rich One wanted a thugged out mix.....so he got a thugged out mix. There's a some Nas, Group HomeNoreaga, Cormega, Mobb Deep, Wu Tang Clan, Iron Sheiks and many more!!!

This is a basic mix.
Nothing crazy.
No crazy "Beat Junkie Style" doubles.
Just some clean mixes.
So don't be mad when you don't hear "Sex Machine 2.5"
...(that's the mix I did for the shoe company).

There's 2 options for you for this time.....

1. One long mix.

2. A folder with the mix in it with the tracks seperated.

Fantastik 4 (1-7-05)

Alright here we go.....

This show (for those that don't know) is an off-shoot of the "friday night flavas" show after the Baka Boys left the station. It was the Fantastik 4our show a.k.a. Friday Night Flavas. Red Bull 45rpm Event 10.27.08

From The Interweb:

Echoplex 8pm-1am. Free admission
Join DJs John Doe, J.Rocc, Phoreyz and Music Man Miles in this inaugural event + special guest DJ all spinning 45rpm records.
Red Bull 45s - an event that takes a piece of record history and remixes in into an innovative evolution of the traditional DJ competition. The event pays tribute to yesteryear by tasking DJs with competing against each other using only the 7-inch 45 RPM records popular in the 1950s and 1960s. The competition format places four DJs in four opposite corners of the venue, with the crowd in the middle. Each DJ plays two songs on 45 RPM records, with each subsequent DJ attempting to match the last beat of the previous DJ - without the help of any beat-matching programs.

I didn't really understand it...too confusing.

This is just my sets...

the first 20 mins.

then my 4 min. rounds....

as i like to say

Enjoy
